Susan has a Masters in Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Health from Trinity College Dublin, where her final dissertation focused on self-harm. She also has a Diploma in Child Psychotherapy and Play Therapy from the Children's Therapy Centre, a Diploma in Adult Psychotherapy from the Tivoli Institute and a Diploma in Creative Supervision.

Susan offers assistance to enable clients of all ages explore what is going on for them in a safe, secure environment. She also works at a local school where she sees students onsite on a weekly basis during the academic year.

For adult or adolescent clients, she uses a variety of theories, which offer creativity and intuitive ways, alongside conventional methods of working. With adults she uses talk therapy, whereas with teenagers she uses creativity because it can help to put a safe distance between the issue being presented and the young person i.e. it can be easier to talk about something on a sheet of paper than it can be to talk about themselves. With children Susan uses play, because it is such a vital component in every child's development and when used therapeutically can offer a child a way to express their mixed up feelings in a non-verbal, non-threatening way.

"My hope is that as a client, you will find enough safety to explore your inner wants, feelings, needs and desires and that as a client you experience relief from your suffering and pain."

Susan also offers Creative Supervision which can facilitate Play Therapists, Psychotherapists, Art Therapists, Teachers, Social Workers and other professionals looking for professional supervision.

"I offer one-off stress management sessions focusing on the State exams. This is not a therapeutic intervention, it a short workshop to help manage stress more effectively. These one-off sessions are particularly good for Leaving Certificate students who need some help managing stress at this very busy time. The workshop takes place over 45 – 50 minutes and includes looking at ways of managing stress in the run up to the exams, things to do the evening before the exam and what helps on the morning of the exams.

I also offer workshops within school settings, focusing on student stress management. This is done in bigger class size groups of 20-25 students and is run over a 1 or 2 class period. Furthermore, I offer workshops to teachers and year heads to help them deal with the stresses and strains they experience working with young people. This takes the form of a discussion group, where the teachers describe the issues they are dealing with and we work out strategies that may help in future events."
